TAKE CARE WITH

STOCKING FILLERS FOR A HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Do you  have a ‘hang up’ about wearing stockings during the summer months?

Suffering with a genetic skin disease called Ichthyosis Vulgaris can be a huge knock on confidence and coping with everyday activities in life, such as what you might wear, do or become. It  is dry scaly layers of dark plaques formed on the top layers of skin cells which affects 1 in 250 people.  So, when Father Christmas asked me what I would like to fill my stockings up with, I said, beautiful flawless skin on my legs so I can hang up my stockings during hot sunny weather!

My skin care routine helped me get my skin to a manageable condition that transformed my life completely within 6 months from

..looking like this ….. Ichthyosis Vulgaris

…to this………………

Well! My Christmas wish was granted!!! A few Aloe Vera bottles and tubes later, topped with a beautiful  airbrushed skin camouflage for cover up,  I was indeed the belle, the tinsel and the fairy on the Christmas tree!!

So my gift to you this Christmas is what to use  to ‘Take Care’ of your skin when covering up for this Winter, so that you too can be ready to hit the summer walking in shorts, mini skirts and bathing suits using emollients, Aloe and Water.

Emollients For Skin

An Emollient is a topical treatment that is used to trap the moisture within the skin.  Most skin conditions are affected by the level of fat and water that is retained in their skin cells.  Should this be lost the structure starts to break down causing potential allergens and infections.  As well as retaining water for moisture, emollients can help ease itchy skin, soften cracked skin and reduce scaling.

A very early example of an emollient derived from animal fat bases such as Lanolin made from sheep’s wool. Synthetic or vegetable based substances are now mainly used for emollients.  A typical ingredient for an emollient could be Beeswax, Paraffin and water. Bee Propolis is also known for its powerful emollient for retaining moisture in the skin, so is very good for skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and icthyosis.

Aloe For Skin

Aloe Vera Plant

The clear sticky gel from the Aloe Vera plant contains emollients that are good for conditioning and removing dead skin cells and maintaining the natural ph balance of the skin, because Aloe Vera contains enzymes that are very similar to our body’s make up.    Taken topically and ingested, it can help the skin to repair quickly.  The leaf holds an abundance of enzymes, proteins, amino acids, vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B12, folic acid.  Known for antihistamine, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and stimulates growth of new tissue cells.  It’s potent properties have helped many suffering from skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, ichthyosis, acne, rashes, bites, stings, cold sores when used orally, topically, or combined.

Aloe Vera Drinking Gel

I have 4 delicious Aloe Vera drinking Gel flavours to choose from.   There is natural, berry, peach and orange flavour, and it’s the orange flavour that has the glucosamine, MSM and Chondroitin, known for their benefits of joints, skin that I drink on a daily basis.

Aloe Bath Gelee

Aloe Bath  Gelee, gives a luxurious rich silky feel to the skin whilst bathing.

 Aloe Moisturizing and Aloe Lotion

Aloe Moisturizing Lotion is a rich creamy texture that contains Aloe, collagen and elastin.  Aloe Lotion is lighter in texture, so can be used when you do not require a heavy coating, again packed with aloe, jojoba oil , collagen, elastin and vitamin E.

Aloe Liquid Soap

I use the Aloe liquid Soap for cleansing, bathing and showering, because although it is called a soap, it has no soap content in it.  I use this for my face, hands and body.

Aloe Vera Gelly

Now this Aloe Vera Gelly in a tube is 100% of the inner leaf of an aloe Vera Plant.  It is quite simply amazing, and probably one of the best products I have ever used on my skin next to cutting a leaf off from my plant! It’s absorption qualities helps to pull in the moisture and lock the contents deep into the skin’s tissues.

Aloe Propolis Crème

You will also need to think about a slightly heavier based emollient to apply to your skin, especially hands and feet!!  I use Aloe Propolis Creme, which is a rich blend of Aloe Vera and bee propolis, chamomile and comfrey.  A total life saver for me, as it acted as a protective barrier from the dry harsh weather whilst keeping moisture safely tucked into my skin cells! For those that suffer with conditions like psoriasis and eczema you will find this helps soothe irritated sore skin.

Water For Skin

DWS Crystal Shower Head

Chemicals in water can often dry your skin that then causes it to become itchy and tight.  This is generally caused by hard water due to the chemicals used in water such as chlorine.   Hard water can also further irritate atopic skin conditions such as eczema, ichthyosis.

By simply attaching a DWS water softener shower head filter to your appliance, you will immediately notice the difference in the water, and eventually your skin. The ceramic balls in the crystal head are coated with vitamin C and bio anti- virus to help remove bacteria and micro organisms. The 360 degree spread nozzle makes showering that more comfortable when adjusting.

The weather is now starting to bite the skin and the heating comes on in the home.  The skin goes into shock and is gasping for moisture!  Just place a little ceramic bowl of water beside each radiator to help put back moisture into your environment.

TAKE ALOE

What is Aloe Vera?

Aloe Vera is a plant that thrives in dry warm climates in countries such as India, Africa and the Caribbean.   The plant is family to the lily. There are over 200 species of aloe, but one of the most potent of the Aloe Vera plant is the Aloe Barbadensis Miller plant due to its beneficial properties.

How do we benefit nutritionally when using Aloe Vera?

Throughout history, Aloe Vera has been known for its medicinal purposes for centuries.  Aloe Vera is mostly composed of water, and has a thick green outer layer and a clear like gummy gel within.  It is the inner part of the plant called the gel, that holds an abundance of enzymes, proteins, amino acids, vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B12 and folic acid.

Aloe Vera  is also known for it’s antibiotic, antihistamine, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and has been widely used to help prevent and ease sun burn, speed up healing of burns and wounds, and stimulate growth of new tissue cells.  It’s potent properties have helped many suffering from skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, ichthyosis, acne, rashes, bites, stings, cold sores when used orally, topically, or combined.

How can Aloe Vera help you with your skin condition?

Personally for me, I have found Aloe Vera to be one of the most powerful natural herbal remedies of it’s kind, that has helped my skin condition ichthyosis  vulgaris improve it’s  appearance and symptons by 85% within six months.
